Lynda and Norm Peters

Lynda Peters, a MEDICO co-founder, served as Executive Director for over two decades. Lynda has a deep passion for service to those in need as displayed through the many valuable programs and projects she initiated over the years including water and sanitation, ecological stoves and education scholarships. She garnered special recognition from First Lady Mary Flake de Flores of Honduras for her work with the underserved of her country as well as various organizations that MEDICO has partnered with since its inception in 1990. Most recently, her work was recognized when one of MEDICO’s partnership communities built and named a women’s maternity center after her because of her inspiration for the project as well as her on-going commitment to their community and its needs. Lynda continues to lead teams, explore new locations for MEDICO volunteers to serve, and advocates for and shares her heart and soul for the mission of MEDICO. Lynda is married to Norm, also a cofounder of the organization. She loves traveling and sharing time with her three children and grandchildren and volunteering in her home community of Georgetown, Texas.

Norm Peters, a co-founder of MEDICO, started his career in the teaching field after graduating from the University of Northern Iowa. His degree in music provided special opportunities to sing and tour professionally with a small vocal group. His career then led to college administration in fundraising and development for Stephens College in Columbia, MO, Southwestern University in Georgetown, TX and Saint Edward’s University in Austin, TX. After leaving that career, he started his own financial consulting business in 1978. Norm has shared his passion for community service by being involved in numerous local service organizations and was a founder and president of a number of nonprofit organizations such as The Caring Place, Chisholm Trail Community Foundation, Sun City Rotary Club and MEDICO. Norm and his wife Lynda were awarded the Woodrow B. Seals Award from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX for their work with MEDICO, serving the underserved in Central America. Norm loves skiing, hiking and traveling, and cherishes time with his family.
